Some collaborations feel like a perfect match. For me, adidas and Harris Tweed is one of them.

The Handball Spezial brings the sporting heritage. First introduced in 1979 for indoor handball, its low profile has long since found a home in everyday wardrobes.

Harris Tweed brings the craft. Protected by its own 1993 Act of Parliament, the cloth is handwoven by islanders at home in the Outer Hebrides, using pure virgin wool dyed and spun there, before being finished on the islands.

That history gives these trainers their appeal. The textured tweed, dark Three Stripes, muted overlays and gum coloured sole make a beautifully considered combination. There is plenty to look at, yet the overall effect feels understated.

They are very comfortable, fit true to my usual size and earn me constant compliments.

For the modern gentleman, this is exactly the sort of relaxed footwear I love: interesting enough to build an outfit around, easy enough to keep the rest simple. I would pair them with straight leg denim and knitwear, or relaxed trousers and an overcoat for a smarter weekend look.

The balance of Scottish textile heritage and familiar adidas design makes this an iconic buy in my opinion. These shoes receive the Adam seal of approval. A very easy yes from me.
